IPTC updates photo metadata mapping rules for Exif 3.0

IPTC, the global standards body for the news industry has recently announced the release of its latest update to their photo metadata mapping rules for Exif 3.0.  The update includes guidelines for mapping individual properties between IPTC’s standards, Exif, and schema.org, along with additional notes for contributor, copyright, dates and IDs.  Developers are encouraged to use the updated guide.

Sony’s In-Camera Authentication Technology Passes AP’s Tests

Continuing with the theme of photography, this recent post from PetaPixel highlights the latest in-camera solutions designed to provide watermarking and content provenance in light of fake news, manipulated images and AI-assisted image generation.  In combination with the Associated Press (AP), Sony’s latest authenticity technology, which creates an “unbreakable” digital signature at the point of capture without the need for additional specialist hardware, has just successfully completed its second phase of testing.  Sony joined the C2PA steering committee back in March 2022.
