Pluralsight has an opening for a Senior Taxonomist in Draper, UT. The role is remote friendly. Travel is estimated to be 5-10%.

As a key member of the Skills Development Intelligence and Operations team you will be responsible for developing and maintaining a world-class ontology that unlocks Pluralsight’s vast content library for our learners and customers. You will work cross functionally with a passionate and talented product team to identify, quantify, and solve problems with organizational wide impact.

As a Senior Taxonomist you will be responsible for building out a flexible and scalable ontology that can adapt to the ever changing technology landscape. You will partner with our ontology product development team to extend that ontology in ways that creates tremendous value for content creation and discovery teams, and ultimately our learners. Your work will drive alignment throughout the Pluralsight organization and be at the heart of Who You Are

What You’ll Own

  • Creating, managing and updating taxonomy and ontology models to define and organize Pluralsight data
  • Defining and implementing governance for new and existing structured data entities
  • Managing mappings & associations between ontologies & taxonomies
  • Presenting and evangelizing design decisions with your team
  • Serve as a strategic resource for labeling and model building efforts
  • Troubleshooting issues stemming from structured data entity assignments
  • Helping devise and inform tooling needs for above mentioned responsibilities
  • Working with the data science and machine learning roles to build and augment knowledge graphs
  • Working with partner teams to help define and adhere to stringent quality metrics
  • Working with internal teams to define and manage the controlled vocabulary and structured data entities to meet business needs
  • Educate stakeholders on an ongoing basis to champion the taxonomy process, workflows and implementation frameworks

Experience You’ll Need

  • A background in Library Science, Information Management, or other related fields
  • 5+ years of experience managing and creating taxonomies or ontologies as well as data labeling and cleaning
  • Ability to apply basic engineering skills like scripting, automation, SQL, SPARQL, Javascript or other technologies to clean up inconsistent or missing data
  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional initiatives with geographically dispersed team members
