FOX Sports is searching for a Director of Product - Media Workflows to join our team in Los Angeles. The Media Workflows group is comprised of Post-Production Operations and Assignment Desk and is the critical ecosystem determining how FOX Sports produces all its content with live and post workflows. It provides solutions for production teams with post-production, studio support, and other media asset needs. This includes Media Asset Management, video editing, storage, live ingest & playback, transcoding, and file delivery, among others. These systems are used by Fox Sports production teams working on all studio shows and live events including NFL, MLB, World Cup, NASCAR, and dozens of others.

As the Director of Product - Media Workflows, you will be responsible for overseeing product development to create, augment, enhance, or otherwise improve upon the user experience of operational and production teams across FOX Sports. You must have big picture vision to innovate and identify opportunities for improvement, integration, and enhancement and be informed on technology trends in the enterprise cloud, UI, product management, and ideally, broadcast/streaming space. Technical responsibilities include UI development, API development, scripting, software project management, basic understanding of enterprise cloud architecture and fundamental coding in contemporary and relevant languages like Java, Python, and C++.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assess existing software platforms for improvement opportunities via integrations, best practices review, architectural design, UI enhancements, and any other available options
  • Collaborate with product vendors on solution specific developments for the company, aligning requirements and objectives from users and stakeholders across multiple departments
  • Implement enhancements and integrations directly to production systems, using coding knowledge as necessary
  • Stay current on technology trends specific to the broadcast industry, especially relating to post-production, enterprise cloud, and streaming workflows
  • Solve problems appropriately and to escalate when necessary
  • Architect content management and workflow systems at an enterprise level, with a focus on operational requirements for all shows/events and administrative management
  • Maintain an understanding of production workflows to fulfill workflow requirements and facilitate collaboration
  • Establish relationships with all engineering and technical leaders to align company strategy and understand technology trends, policy changes, including industry vendors
WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • 5+ years professional experience required in network level broadcast and/or OTT video company
  • 5+ years of experience as a Product Manager
  • Demonstrated success defining and launching excellent products
  • Capability in coding languages such as python, C++, Java, etc.
  • Moderate understanding of cloud computing architecture, best practices, and new trends, especially Google Cloud
  • Understanding of API language and experience writing, integrating with, or supporting APIs
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, presentation, and documentation skills
  • Proficiency with Google Suite applications, and knowledge of both Mac and PC operating systems
NICE TO HAVE BUT NOT A DEAL BREAKER

  • Education in Computer Science, Broadcasting, Engineering, or a related communications field
  • Experience with broadcast and/or post-production technologies like MAM/DAM, file acceleration, video editing, video streaming
  • Experience with UI design
