Summary

We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Creative Services Manager who is responsible for managing creative product and workflow for the University from early concept stages through production and delivery. You will also help with design, video production, art direction, vendor relationships, community partnerships, training, and brand implementation. The ideal candidate is a masterful project manager and creative producer who can partner technical design acumen with people skills, clear and professional communication, active listening skills, time management and problem-solving capabilities, a social justice stance, and empathy.

As an integral part of the Office of Communications and Strategic Relations (OSCR), this position reports to the Creative Director and works on the Creative Services team, with a Lead Designer and Multimedia Specialist.

Essential Dutioes and Responsibilities

  • Managing the workflow for all creative production; you will be responsible for holding regular production meetings, tracking timelines, projects, deadlines, expenditure and budget, while influencing other stakeholders to support successful outcomes.
  • Supporting the Creative Director, while working with partners across the University to create a shared vision and supporting the Creative Services Team to ensure projects are completed on time and on brand.
  • Scoping out and determining the feasibility of producing final creative work in a variety of media; supporting creative research and the discovery phase before proposals begin.
  • Maintaining quality standards across the production of all creative work.
  • Implementing brand standards across the University through communications and design and brand training, workshops and facilitating office hours for staff.
  • Communicating and liaising between Creative Services and other University departments.
  • Managing vendor relationships; sourcing quotes, and producing estimates for work to be produced. Negotiating with external suppliers.
  • Supporting the organization of digital multimedia assets and maintaining the online photo library, including standardized file naming and tagging.
  • Responding  to Zendesk tickets (i.e., "help requests") in a timely and responsive manner.
  • Improving the creative workflow process; efficient streamlining while maintaining the highest quality output.
  • Ensuring the correct licensing of artistic material across all formats and locations within agreed timings.
  • Supporting the design of collateral materials, including brochures, handbooks, flyers, cards, invitations, signage, and webpages.
  • Assisting with pre-production and production of photo and video shoots. This can range from coordinating with faculty/staff and/or students, room/location bookings, helping set-up and take-down lighting and video equipment as well assisting in art direction for video and photo shoots.
Requirements:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree and/or relevant experience
  • Design background preferred
  • A minimum of five years' experience in creative design (or equivalent) and project management.
Skills

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Illustrator, Photoshop, and Digital Asset Management (DAM) system
  • Experience with print vendors,
  • Working with complicated design and printing jobs.
  • High degree of proficiency in Asana, Canva, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Soft skills and the ability to communicate technical terms to non-designers in a kind way.
  • Ready to pivot and brainstorm alternative steps forward in a production
  • Ability and willingness to travel for video shoots or production needs (5%).
  • Video production and photography skills are a big plus!
