The Autism CanTech! program provides Autistic Youth with robust supports and training to succeed in their careers. The program develops practical and job-transferable skills in preparation for work placements in a wide variety of tech related positions.  Our courses give participants an opportunity to practice work place skills with the guidance of an instructor and career coach.

NorQuest is looking to hire a casual Digital Asset Management subject matter expert, for the Autism CanTech! program, to inform and develop a 7-week curriculum-based program, with an adherence to the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL).

In addition to job specific skills, the SME will have knowledge of:

  • Classification and metadata systems.
  • Planning and creating a DAM roadmap.
  • DAM maintenance to ensure proper classification and organization
  • Digital rights management
  • Data migration and import.
  • Metadata schemas, taxonomies and user groups for a DAM system.
  • Identifying ways in which to define and improve workflows for asset ingestion, version control, access management and delivery
  • Managing access permissions and standards, assuring that assets are available to correct user groups
  • Identifying the different DAM systems, software, digitizing equipment, and platforms for use.
HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Prepare and facilitate the development of Digital Asset Management curriculum for online and in-person classrooms.
  • Develop appropriate learning activities
  • Work with Instructional Designer to develop Instructional Manuals to help instructors teach the curriculum.
  • Work collaboratively with the Autism CanTech! staff and colleagues in a “team” environment.
  • Dependent on skillsets, there may be additional opportunities to become an instructor to teach the prepared Digital Asset Management curriculum to program participants.
  • Document student attendance, participation, and academic progress.
  • Answer student questions and provide individual feedback as required.
  • Manage the classroom and activities to provide an optimum learning environment for students.
  • Work 1 on 1 with students that need extra support.
  • Participate in program debrief sessions(s) with the team, and provide recommendations related to course content, materials, student preparedness, delivery format, etc.
WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Library Sciences, or related technology field
  • Experience in taxonomy development, database reporting, and DAM governance
  • Experience partnering with Instructional Designers to develop curriculum
  • Experience with digital asset best practices, including encoding formats for image, video, and other digital records.
  • An asset would be a familiarization with designing or developing materials for those living with Autism or other disabilities or marginalized populations, and how to tailor educational or instructional styles to accommodate the needs of learners.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a team member with Instructional Designers.
  • Ability to prepare materials for an interactive learning environment with skill practice, and be able to apply the basic principles and practices of adult education.
  • Ability to develop a rubric or other measurement tool to understand the learners knowledge of prepared materials.
  • Advanced skills in conflict resolution and problem solving.
  • Ability to develop different classroom strategies to keep learners engaged.
  • Strong oral communication and writing skills.
  • Culturally sensitive and have an ability to work with a diverse population.
  • Passionate about teaching technical skills to individuals living with Autism.
