The Senior Assistant Director for Digital Media is vital to the execution of recruitment and marketing strategies and to the success of USC’s undergraduate enrollment. The  Senior Assistant Director for Digital Media is primarily responsible for elevating the caliber of digital content delivered through the university’s owned media channels, customer relationship management system and virtual tour, and stored in the university’s digital asset management (DAM) system.

The position participates in the content creation process to ensure effectiveness of the brand strategy and content strategy as expressed through visual elements including logos and the visual identity system, typography, colors, graphic elements and imagery. The position also develops and executes digital media strategies that allow for customization to targeted audience preferences. More specifically, the  Senior Assistant Director for Digital Media oversees the planning, content, production and design of publication photography, advanced-level marketing videos, motion graphics, presentations, digital assets, digital signage and photo/video shoots. The position reviews, evaluates, and makes recommendations for new digital assets or the modification of existing marketing digital programs and initiatives based on emerging trends and technologies in digital platforms as well as collaborates with the creative team as well as external vendors (if needed) to produce work that is on-trend and reflects the appropriate brand aesthetic.

Additionally, the position provides advanced level graphic design services for use in multiple recruiting and marketing publications and digital platforms and oversees the implementation and maintenance of our DAM to organize, centralize and streamline the use of upwards of 1,000 media assets. The Sr. Manager position collaborates will multiple individuals within enrollment management and externally, works in an environment with tight deadlines and excels at balancing multiple projects at once. The position also uses their knowledge of admissions procedures, policies and practices to provide accurate counseling and customer service to students, parents and guidance counselors at special events taking place frequently throughout the year.

The position requires some evening and weekend work and may also require occasional travel.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree, or Bachelor’s degree and 2 or more years related experience.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a motor vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications     

  • Master’s degree and 2 or more years professional experience, or Bachelor’s degree and 4 or more years related experience.
  • Advanced experience in photography, graphic design and videography as well as content marketing, communications and advertising principles.
  • Experience in professional photography / videography / graphic design in marketing, journalism or related department within a service-type industry.
  • General knowledge of the college admissions process.
  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities     

  • Knowledge of creative design studio office systems, including creative conception, production flow, typography, photography, video, communications design, web design and appropriate integration of the visual and written worlds.
  • Visual composition skills with the ability to conceptualize and produce story telling through digital productions.
  • Knowledge of photo and video equipment as well as production skills including video storytelling, lighting, audio and editing, and modern photographic techniques to produce varying effects.
  • Self-motivated and ability to work both independently and collaboratively, partnering with content strategists, designers, writers and broad cross-functional teams as well as external vendors.
  • Problem-solving skills and independent self-direction coupled with open communication. · Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and timelines. Ability in aligning multiple brand strategies and ideas and handling multiple projects concurrently.
  • Familiarity with usage rights, licensing, and copyright laws.
  • Ability to speak with confidence before others and make presentations to large and small groups.
  • Knowledgeable of admissions policies and procedures and familiar with national issues and trends in higher education.
  • Able to maintain confidential information.
  • Able to read and evaluate academic credentials.
