The School Marketing Specialist is a full-time, non-exempt position, working in a hybrid environment and responsible for supporting the execution of Boston Ballet School’s (BBS) marketing and communications campaigns to meet engagement, enrollment and revenue goals. Campaigns include retention and acquisition activities across all media channels to promote the School’s core programs and special initiatives. BBS serves over 5,000 students from toddler to adult in several Boston area locations and generates ~ $8MM annually.

The Specialist helps with the day-to-day execution of messaging and content across Boston Ballet School’s email and social media channels. Reporting to the Boston Ballet School Marketing Manager and in collaboration with the BB Marketing and BBS teams, this role will create and share compelling, platform-relevant content designed to promote BBS mission and programming, enhance the customer experience and drive positive brand perception. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator with a passion for creative storytelling and ability to craft messaging to a range of audiences across varied channels.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Campaign Content

  • Drafts content required for all marketing efforts including effective copywriting and engaging creative tailored to each platform to support campaign objectives and customer engagement
  • Manages image approval process and the organization of photo library, digital asset management (DAM), and SmugMug
  • Serves as an in-house videographer and photographer
  • Postproduction photo and video editing for videos
  • Works in consultation with BB Senior Social Media Coordinator, School Marketing Manager, School Directors and digital partners and aligned with BB best practices
  • Provides timely responses to Facebook and Instagram messages and comments
Email Communications

  • Drafts and deploysall e-communications working in consultation with BB Email Coordinator and aligned with BB best practices
  • Recommends opportunities for improvement
  • Produces email campaign performance report and share insights
  • Pulls segmented customer lists for targeted communications from Tessitura and Mindbody databases
  • Facilitates grassroots acquisition activities including (but not limited to) mailings, blogger outreach, local school partnerships, and store collaborations
School Events and Administrative Support

  • Supports and attends key BBS initiatives such as Open Houses, Spring Showcase, Next Generation; other job-related assignments as required.
Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, arts management, education or related field, plus two to three years of professional work experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with excellent attention to detail and work well in a fast-paced In-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest, Snapchat, TikTok, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; creative and conversational writer who is also a diligent proofreader
  • A strong visual eye; knowledge of Photoshop and some photography/video capture skills a plus
  • Familiarity with communicating and interacting with people with disabilities
  • Flexibility, positive attitude, and good work ethic
  • Enthusiastic about arts/dance education and sensitivity and caring attitude toward children
  • Ability to travel to other studio locations as needed
  • Excellent computer/technology skills - Microsoft Office, Wordfly or large-scale email delivery system, Tessitura, and CMSs a plus; and strong understanding of digital media and IT
  • Weekends and evenings as needed (monitoring and some in-person events)
