This is a six-month, term-limited, full-time position with full Harvard University benefits.
Reporting to the Executive Multimedia Producer, the Production Assistant (PA) supports a number of multimedia functions within Harvard Radcliffe Institute’s (HRI) Communications department. They will devote the majority of their time to supporting the launch of HRI’s digital asset management system (DAM), a high priority project for the Institute.
This is a hands-on tactical role responsible for organizing a large volume of creative assets in a manner that is consistent and will provide strong UX. The remainder of the PA’s time will include work:
Position Description
Reporting to the Executive Multimedia Producer, the Production Assistant (PA) supports a number of multimedia functions within Harvard Radcliffe Institute’s (HRI) Communications department. They will devote the majority of their time to supporting the launch of HRI’s digital asset management system (DAM), a high priority project for the Institute.
This is a hands-on tactical role responsible for organizing a large volume of creative assets in a manner that is consistent and will provide strong UX. The remainder of the PA’s time will include work:
- Supporting the pre-production, production, and post-production of multimedia content for the Institute,
- Assisting in coordinating locations, equipment, crews, and scheduling,
- Acting as assistant editor for video and audio content recorded or acquired by HRI; and
- Assisting on location to support all aspects of the filming process, from applying makeup to gathering releases to serving as a runner for supplies
Position Description
- Performs processing, file naming, tagging, photo editing, archiving, de-duping, and other tasks related to the launch of HRI’s new DAM system.
- Collaborates with Communications colleagues to develop processes related to digital asset management
- Process new batches of digital content in a timely fashion
- Escalates issues proactively and approaches problems in a solution-oriented manner
- Helps develop and document standards, policies, and procedures for use of the DAM platform
- Assist producers, video editors, production crews, and content teams in gathering and editing multimedia content
- Assists in coordinating film shoots, including organizing spaces, production locations, appearance releases, and equipment rentals and storage.
- A minimum of three (3) years of media production or post-production experience, including video and audio work.
- A track record of assisting in project management and multimedia production coordination.
- Familiarity with digital assets management (DAM) systems or willingness to learn.
- Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro, MS Outlook, and MS Office.
- A solid grounding in the technical aspects of post-production
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or equivalent from four-year college or technical school is preferred
- Experience creating and applying professional archiving strategies and standards for digital assets.
- Media production or post-production experience, including video and audio work, and solid grounding in the technical aspects of post-production is a plus.
- Ability to respond with enthusiasm and flexibility under tight deadlines and shifting priorities.
