HKS Dallas is seeking a Photography Manager to join our Marketing Communications team.

Contributes to a culture of storytelling within the content marketing practice at HKS in collaboration with Marketing Communications and project teams. Uses independent judgment to showcase the best HKS projects via photography. Anticipates job expectations while performing design and technical tasks requiring application of standard techniques and knowledge.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads scheduling and coordination of architectural photoshoots, ensuring all relevant timelines are met and resulting images are of best quality
  • Provides on-set art direction and styling, composition, lighting, etc. in collaboration with team
  • Manages expectations on cost and scope with firm leaders before, during, and after photoshoot
  • Researches and makes strategic recommendations to design leaders on the best photographer(s) based on a given project’s needs
  • Identifies external talent and grows and manages network of contract photographers both on a local and global level
  • Manages HKS photography sales to third-party photography clients, including working with project teams to identify and develop photography sales strategy; working with accounting coordinator to create and send accurate invoices; running daily reports to verify payments and outstanding invoices; sending purchased images when payments are received and posted; following up on any outstanding invoices; updating revenue spreadsheet
  • Monitors and maintains accurate rights usage records for all professional imagery acquired; provides and maintains records of usage rights releases for all HKS image sales
  • Processes, uploads and tags professional photography and assets to image database with an depth understanding of image formats and when appropriate to use each and an understanding of legal issues around photographic asset use and the ability to create solutions that serve both creative and legal requirements
  • Conducts DAM user training for different audiences within HKS as needed
  • Analyzes and makes improvements to current DAM taxonomy as needed
  • Acts as primary content manager to maintain quality and consistency of assets contributed by global users
  • Acts as a key strategic partner to the Global Knowledge Services team by providing updates on planned and acquired photography and maintaining DAM process and software to align with current knowledge initiatives
  • Remains up to date on best practices, trends and patterns in videography and content marketing
  • Fosters and maintains a collaborative professional working relationship with the project team
  • Manages conflict effectively and encourages a healthy team environment
  • Maintains ongoing records of all firm photography costs
  • Coordinates with practice leadership and design team members to establish photography budget, craft photography agreement, and communicate the scope of work to all parties
  • Collaborates and strategizes with Business Development and other leadership to align photography content with business development strategies to maintain existing client relationships and establish new business
  • Travel will be required
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Photography, Journalism, Marketing or related degree
  • Typically with 3+ years of related experience
  • Experience in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and OpenAsset preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint preferred
  • Proficiency in content management and cloud-based organization and understanding of digital asset management software methodologies
  • Solid photography background, experience managing photography projects, and/or hands-on photography experience
  • Knowledge of and interest in architecture/interior design preferred
  • Strong writing skills with experience in graphically designed page layouts
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to excellence
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all levels of staff and customers; ability to forge trusting relationships within a diverse team
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
  • Ability to communicate and present ideas in a clear, concise and professional manner both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to problem solve and apply innovative solutions
  • Ability to work and collaborate in a team environment, and ability to work independently and prioritize work
  • Ability to effectively meet deadlines at expected quality
