The Marketing Asset Specialist will collaborate with key members within the division and organization to create the digital asset management strategy and vision for Syracuse University’s Division of Marketing.

The Specialist will partner across divisional teams (and with University ITS as needed) to design, implement and continuously improve digital asset management (DAM) systems used by the marketing division. Marketing assets will include, but not be limited to: imagery, video, brand elements, divisional training, reference documents, etc. They will participate in the analysis and organization of all digital assets created and uploaded to various DAMs. They will collaborate with team leaders on taxonomy structure, metadata, upload and organization of assets, asset lifecycle process, platform training and troubleshooting. They will also have an in-depth understanding of workflow management and help to identify places to integrate various asset platforms.

Education and Experience     

A bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience. A minimum of 4 years’ experience managing a digital asset management system for a medium to large organization.

Skills and Knowledge     

  • Demonstrated ability to implement and standardize digital asset management tools and processes.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 Suite including OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Understanding of file linkage and uses in Adobe Creative Suite including Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom, InDesign, Premiere, Bridge, Acrobat.
  • Knowledge of video asset management concepts and various ecosystems.
  • Deep knowledge of file formats (digital, print, video) and distribution requirements across different channels (web, social, paid advertising, direct mail, email, mobile, etc.)
  • Motivated self-starter with positive attitude and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to affectively collaborate with all professional levels.
  • Ability to work self-sufficiently and within a strong team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work quickly /effectively under deadlines.
  • Proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges.
  • Close visual acuity to perform tasks related to design, photo and video assets related to grading and color consistency.
  • Ability to perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, including professional voiceover, audio equipment and appropriate audio levels.
Responsibilities     

  • Create and lead the development of the DAM (digital asset management) strategy.
  • Develop and implement strategies for taxonomy and metadata management based on industry best practices. Govern compliance and maintenance of the system. Actively promote data consistency to support common standards and analytics.
  • Continuously evaluate current solutions for new features and opportunities. Review, analyze and evaluate both system and user needs.
  • Monitor all incoming assets in order to make sure they meet requirements such as proper filename structure, descriptions, keywords, etc.
  • Develop training materials and instructions on correct usage and best practices of DAM systems.
  • Provide guidance, assistance and support to users as needed or requested.
  • Manage the entire digital asset lifecycle including asset expiration and digital archiving.
