As part Enterprise Content Management and Creative Team, the Manager, Digital Asset Management is responsible for overseeing the asset management for the Enterprise including but not limited to product assets (images, video, manuals etc.), flyers, web banners, in-store display, photography, and creative project files for all Canadian Tire and it’s group of Companies and brands.  With many integrations to marketing platforms including our websites, the Manager is responsible for ensuring assets have the right metadata and taxonomy that powers our growing content marketing automation and personalization capabilities across channels. With many new capabilities underway and migrations across brands, this Manager should be able to make strategic ongoing and sustainable recommendations and lead change across a large complex organization.

Managing a newly centralized team of Digital Asset Management Specialists across offices and remotely, the Manager will help transition between manual processes to workflow driven solutions with the support of our Product Managers and IT partners.

What you’ll do

This role will be responsible for:

  • Operate as the DAM system asset management operations lead and act as the gatekeeper of the DAM ensuring high quality of assets and content, recommend and implement processes and workflows, and maintains consistency and DAM governance standards.
  • Manage a team of 8+ local and remote Digital Asset Management Specialist as well as leading a third-party tagging company. This team is comprised of full-time and freelance.
  • Lead the intake and metadata tagging and publishing of digital assets (product assets, photos, videos, media and web banners, logos, flyers, in-store display, working files, etc.) for all internal and external partners, while considering all governance policies and infrastructure requirements.
  • Lead product asset standards for product suppliers (e.g., website product images/videos/manuals), content creators, and agencies, to ensure best-in-class content is available for our website product pages, and other downstream channels impacted.
  • Promote, train and field user inquiries from user and technical issues to content questions.
  • Lead the maintenance and updating of archival protocols and procedures, new metadata attribute creation, and security policy management.
  • Conduct regular asset and security audits to ensure assets are relevant and appropriately cataloged and tagged while adhering to the right security protocols.
  • Lead the data and asset migration process from various legacy DAMs or servers, cleaning and mapping assets prior to ingestion and quality control checks after migration
  • Lead the setting of enterprise asset standards and downstream system usages (e.g., website product images/videos).
  • Lead the management of the lifecycle of assets after creation, including pairing working and project files to final assets.
  • Manage the rights and permissions of assets and asset management systems.
  • Look at ways to automate and optimize parts of the process so that an increase in volume can be operationalized. Identify workflow improvement opportunities and work with IT and stakeholders to implement.
  • Develop DAM training materials, governance documents and policies while ensuring cross-functional teams are familiar.
  • Create and maintain reporting for DAM usage including, missing product assets, asset utilization, expiring assets, assets by brand, etc.
  • Always stay abreast to the latest DAM and digital asset management standards and making strategic recommendations.
  • Work with the Product Manager, Content Management Platforms (also part of this team) to make improvements to the DAM Platform.
What you bring

  • University degree and/or more experience in the field is required.
  • 8+ years of experience working in a digital asset management or similar role.
  • Experience working closely with eCommerce, creative, and merchandising teams in a retail environment is a strong asset.
  • Experience having direct-reports and managing a team is required.
  • Strong experience maintaining and administrating enterprise-scale asset management systems (DAM) with many integrations is required (Example of integrations: Hybris PCM, Stibo STEP, Akamai Media Manager, Adobe Experience Manager, Salesforce Marketing Cloud etc.)
  • Experience with managing change management with implementing a new DAM impacting teams within a large organization.
  • Experience using ExifTool and other asset analysis tools, and strong understanding of technical metadata is required (you will be asked to demonstrate).
  • Familiarity with process automation implementation for manual tasks and workflows.
  • Strong understanding of various digital media types and its channel specific applications.
  • Strong proficiencies in metadata and asset taxonomy development, developing permissions and rights management guidelines, and overall DAM documentation for end-users.
  • Outstanding problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to turn findings into strategic recommendations. Proven track record of finding solutions to complex problems around managing assets.
  • Highly motivated, organized and detail-oriented with good problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of creative creation and production processes and workflows.
  • Great written and oral communication skills in English. Bilingual (French) is a strong asset.
  • Familiarity with publishing and organizing media assets websites and social media channels an asset.
