The Manager Design Operations is responsible for end-to-end workflow, processes, support systems, print quality, and asset management within the Campbell’s Snacks Visual Equity & Design department. The ideal candidate possesses the ability to think strategically and to drive efficiency & creative excellence within the package design commercialization process.

The Design Operation Manager is a process champion and advocate for consistency and compliance to maintain the integrity of all creative output. A problem-solver with a keen understanding of the requirements of the package design development process, pre-press, print production & asset management, this leader is skilled at improving activity/workflow cohesion and streamlining processes. This role acts as a bridge between the Visual Equity & Design department, cross-functional partners, and pre-press.  In this role, you will be a trusted partner for the Visual Equity and Commercialization teams.

Principle Accountabilities

Workflow Operations & Systems Leadership

  • Oversee ongoing identification and implementation of operational efficiencies within department processes; proactively identify solutions (speed, cost, quality) to workflow to best meet the demands of the organization’s stage gate and commercialization process.
  • Act as lead administrator for the Project Management Workflow tool and DAM platform for packaging assets, including acting as lead for Campbell’s Snacks as a member of the Governance Council for enterprise-wide technologies related to Visual Equity & Design.
  • Leverage understanding of creative work requirements to be a key Integrated Marketing advisory resource (ex. 3D rendering, eCom, etc.) during broad-scope projects within the Portfolio Planning & Commercialization organization to better represent the unique needs of Design and Production.
Asset Management

  • Oversee the integrity of brand equity assets within the internal DAM system, managing the full life cycle of assets and resolving any issues or conflicts as needed.
  • Partner with Product Information Management (PIM) team to ensure GS1 CGI bundle compliance and on-going workflow optimization within existing systems.
  • Provide direction to the dedicated Pre-Press Digital Asset team, ensuring work is completed in a timely, efficient manner.
  • Work closely with eCommerce content managers to support digital shelf design asset needs.
Pre-Press & Print Quality Management

  • Lead pre-press relationship ensuring the efficient management of resources in partnership with the Pre-Press leadership team.  Ensure team understanding of our business goals - working collaboratively, and opportunistically, to address both existing and new operational business needs, while also identifying opportunities for future innovation.  Oversee contract negotiations and compliance.
  • Monitor and maintain quality control standards throughout the production & print process with the pre-press technical team, including color accuracy, print resolution, material quality, and finishing techniques.  Act as key point of contact for any press related issues, coordinating audits and follow up to ensure adequate corrective action and issue resolution.
Job Specifications

  • 8+ years experience in packaging design operations.  CPG experience a plus.
  • Strong understanding of pre-press/printing process is required, in addition to digital design for packaging.
  • Design & print knowledge/expertise: solid understanding of the creative, photographic and pre-press processes; extensive knowledge of all print methodologies - lithographic, flexographic, gravure, digital.
  • Experience working on project management systems and improvement.
  • Comfortable managing a high-volume of tasks with shifting deadlines and priorities across several projects simultaneously.
  • Natural collaborator: able to build strong relationships, encourage cross functional alignment & coordination and ensure open communication with internal & external partners.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict management skills.
  • Proactive, with strong independent drive and the ability to demonstrate confidence and autonomy in decision making.
  • Incredible project management: detail oriented, highly organized, timely and fiscally responsible.
  • Excellent communication skills - written & verbal.
  • Solutions oriented: tackles challenges head-on with a can-do attitude. Leading teams to tackle issues collaboratively; channeling attitudes, time and energy to surface solutions rather than focusing on limitations.
  • Demonstrates an ownership mindset and personal accountability for the quality of work created.
  • Bachelor’s degree (in related field preferred).
