WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for an information professional skilled in building taxonomies and ontologies. This role will focus on the design, build, and implementation of the semantic structures that connect Nike’s consumers and other end users to our offerings, as part of our “Consumer Direct Acceleration” Digital Transformation initiative. This candidate will bring a combination of taxonomy experience, high degree of comfortability with ambiguity, and ability to think creatively and operate independently to join a product-led and user-centric team in building out Nike’s enterprise taxonomy and ontology models.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

You’ll be working with the Metadata & MDM team to:

  • Holistically design faceted taxonomies, ontologies, and controlled vocabularies to be used for search, browse navigation, personalization, and analytics use cases across Nike.
  • Understand enterprise taxonomy use cases and develop taxonomy and ontology structures to support them.
  • Triage and troubleshooting incoming taxonomy and ontology requests and issues
  • Work within the Agile framework to deliver taxonomy and ontology iteratively and at speed
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

  • You will become part of the Metadata & Master Data Management team, and will partner with collaborators from various business organizations throughout Nike and with peers in Enterprise Data Governance.
  • You will collaborate with internal business partners to ensure that semantic structures accurately represent specialized business knowledge and points of view.
  • You will also closely collaborate with engineering partners to triage and troubleshoot taxonomy and ontology data issues, and to deliver taxonomy data solutions to end consumers.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • 5+ years working on customer-centric taxonomies, ontologies, or controlled vocabularies - preferably in an e-commerce or retail setting
  • Familiarity with taxonomy and ontology management toolsets
  • Familiarity with RDFS, OWL, SPARQL, and SKOS
  • High degree of comfortability with ambiguity and ability to operate independently
  • MLIS or other related degree
