Purpose of the Role
This is a hands-on role. You will coordinate and participate in Ofcom’s daily publishing process, managing time scales and resources. You will oversee the delivery of large publications as well as longer-term strategy projects, review content across the website and help realise our commitment to making Ofcom’s website accessible and user friendly. You will lead and support a small team of two dedicated Digital Content Producers.
The role involves engaging with teams across the organisation to support them creating and setting up accessible content.
You will be a calm, confident communicator, able to build strong relationships across the organisation and beyond.
Your key responsibilities

Your key responsibilities
- Leads on and manages production workflows for digital content, ensuring that outputs are high-quality and on-brand
- Line manages two dedicated Digital Content Producers, helping to co-ordinate and support their work and develop their professional lives
- Oversees, coordinates and participates in the daily publication process, ensuring quality, collaboration, accuracy and timely delivery of all publications
- Plans and prepares content for publication, ensuring quality, branding, accuracy and timely delivery
- Builds and manages our content health and strategy work, ensuring information is written in plain English and up to date
- Works alongside the Communications team to ensure the scope, requirements and outcomes of digital content are identified at the outset
- Works with the Digital Product and Delivery Manager and Insights and Evaluation Lead to help meet content KPIs
- Communicates the work of the Digital team and the wider Communications team across the organisation, acting as a positive ambassador for our work internally.
- Works closely with the Editorial Manager to keep content fresh and ensure it is right for the target audience
- Understands and champions accessibility and content standards within the team and beyond
- Supports the Digital Product and Delivery Manager, contributing to online development projects
- Keeps up to date with best practice in digital communication
- Builds effective and supportive relationships with other teams within Ofcom
- Experience of digital publishing using an enterprise level CMS with significant volume of output
- Experience of editing and tailoring content for specific audience
- Experience of working to tight deadlines in a high-pressured environment
- Experiencing of coordinating a significant workload and a small team, planning and ensuring availability of resources
- Evidence of UX and improving the delivery of a digital service
- Experience of delivery of content projects with measurable benefits
- Experience of implementing SEO techniques
- Knowledge and application of accessibility best practice
- Experience of using cloud-based campaign mail software such as Campaign Monitor, MailChimp, Dotmailer or similar
- Experience of using a variety of digital tools to support the delivery of a high-end websites, e.g. Siteimprove
- Experience of delivering significant project volumes to very tight deadlines
- Experience of coaching and managing a team
- Knowledge of HTML and browser and user interfaces
- Knowledge of Adobe creative cloud
- Confidence in representing yourself and the digital team to various internal and external stakeholders
- Appreciation of and desire to promote Ofcom's values
- Some out of hours cover will be required
- A working knowledge of the media and communications sectors
- Line management experience would be advantageous
