PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Digital Asset Manager is responsible for the management of enterprise-wide digital assets within the company’s Digital Asset Management (DAM) system. This position will effectively ensure digital files and assets follow company process and workflows, are named and stored appropriately, and include accurate documentation to protect usage rights.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Advanced knowledge of industry legal requirements to ensure DAM assets correspond to, and meet documentation requirements including licenses, right-to-use waivers, and any other documentation which will be digitally stored, organized, and used for proof of usage rights.
  • Responsible for meticulously maintaining functions within the DAM system. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring assets are uploaded with proper users & permissions, metadata, keywording, cataloging, categorizing and organization is accurate and consistent; and relevant checks and balances of all contracts and documentation requirements are met.
  • Serve as a subject matter DAM expert and partner with asset stakeholders to dictate and implement best practices. This position will help define criteria and requirements for integrations, workflows, and processes with various departments (e.g., Digital, Social, Media Production) and within multiple digital asset categories.
  • Govern daily DAM Download Requests with discretion of approvals from internal/external requestors, in relation to usage restrictions, security permissions and troubleshooting guidance based on various distribution systems.
  • Partner with asset stakeholders to evaluate, develop, and implement efficiencies for ongoing asset management including processing, keywording, and archiving content (both digital and hard media) as required per existing metadata modes, nomenclature standards, taxonomies, and controlled vocabularies.
  • Define, dictate, and train asset stakeholders on process and documentation needed for implementation of new workflows, audits, and renewals of expiring assets; stock and licensing for proper rights; usage and purchasing; preparation of content.
  • Establish periodic data verification review processes to ensure data accuracy and to support easy and consistent search and delivery of assets.
  • Keep informed of latest Digital Asset Management technology trends and innovations.
  • Partner with legal and asset stakeholders to develop and implement changes in business needs for the organization.
  • Ensure compliance within all digital platforms to support the creation and implementation of road-map for future development of the DAM system. Report and analyze measurements of ROI with assets and stay current on industry standards.
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in library or computer science, digital arts, videography or photography, or equivalent experience with digital asset management.
  • One (1) years of experience in digital arts, videography or photography or digital asset management at an agency, in-house or freelance.
PREFERRED:

  • 5+ years of experience in digital arts, videography or photography or digital asset management at an agency, in-house or freelance.
  • Advanced knowledge of DAM systems, including structure, functionality, taxonomy, and metadata.
  • Knowledge of video formats, codecs and transcoding.
  • Experience with cross-functional library or content management systems (e.g. WebDAM, Sprinkler, EDAM, AEM).
  • Adobe Premier understanding.
  • Knowledge of Word and Excel.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:  

  • Advanced knowledge of licensing agreements and contracts.
  • Analytic ability to collect, analyze, deduce, and present information.
  • Copyright knowledge related to media use in a corporate environment.
  • Working knowledge of photography, videography, social media, and website workflows.
  • Understanding of Adobe Creative Cloud Suite applications.
  • Excellent organizational skills to function effectively prioritize competing tasks within established deadlines, with particular attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment and adapt learnings for continuous evolution to support changes in industry best practices.
  • Understanding of file transfer and storage procedures.
  • Ability to handle confidential information appropriately and to exercise care in safeguarding proprietary information.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with various teams and staff at all levels.
  • Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and verbal forms.
