Data Governance Specialist will be responsible for developing, maintaining and execution of the Data Governance Accountability Framework. They will lead the investigation, development and implementation of the framework. This role will be responsible for the Data Management services for the enterprise and will be seen as the subject matter expert for Data Governance and Data Management.

What you’ll do

  • Contribute to the development of the data governance policy, strategy and processes for the enterprise. Lead components within the development of this framework.
  • Creation and maintenance of the data governance framework (working in collaboration with the Manager)
  • Identify opportunities to modify/streamline; recommend and execute on process improvements
  • Contribute and oversee the development of standards, processes, roles and metrics
  • Provide business expertise and platform leadership for the Data Management tool
  • Excellent customer service through the application of customer support skills, business, and technical knowledge to triage, diagnose, troubleshoot, and escalate or resolve customer application issues.
  • Assist the Application Support Lead in developing and ensuring adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and implementing best practices for achieving support objectives.
  • Drive automation initiatives for the Data Management tool to improve operational efficiency
  • Responsible for improving and documenting the business / technical processes around application support (using Confluence)
  • Responsible for monitoring and responding to open tickets submitted through an incident management system
  • Troubleshoot and escalate alerts that cannot be resolved to appropriate section
  • Prioritize and handle service requests and incidents
  • Experience with database management and project management.
  • The ability to remain up-to-date with the latest software developments and have a broad technical knowledge to triage any issues to the appropriate team as and when required.
  • Implement, deploy, and facilitate the records management program enterprise-wide as set by Information Governance
  • Work with various business groups to coordinate and facilitate the records management process
  • Work with key partners in Privacy, Technology and Information Security to develop and achieve program goals.
  • Investigate and research where various information is housed, who has access to it currently, who is responsible for it and help run entitlement reviews.
  • Lead in individual cross-functional and quality enhancement conversations related to data governance activities and provide ongoing support and governance to internal stakeholders
  • Provide ongoing support and governance to internal stakeholders
  • Probe for more information to understand existing processes
  • Influence these parties in order to get them to share about their business functions and process that help in determining the proper ownership of data
  • Create and maintain effective communication channels
  • Monitor and respond to inquiries relating to data governance processes and guidelines from business groups.
  • Stakeholders are informed and provided with recommendations on next steps and action to ensure ownership, compliance and uphold data governance standards

What you bring

  • Basic and/or professional certifications from the cloud platforms like AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
  • Experience with Data Management Tools like Informatica, Collibra, IBM Infosphere, Cloud Pakfor Data, etc.
  • Experience with reporting and visualization tools like Power BI.
  • Experience with SQL, Hive, Snowflake, and Cloud platforms like Azure, AWS or Google Cloud
  • Project or Incident Management tools like Jira and Service Now
  • Prior Agile experience
  • Knowledge about APIs, data pipelines, and data life cycle.
  • IT Service Management
  • Application Management
