4 Truths About OpenAI’s Wild Financial Position

As the hype surrounding ChatGPT settles, concerns and speculation concerning OpenAI’s financial stability have begun to surface.  After a recent funding round that saw Microsoft, NVidia and SoftBank inject up to $6.6 billion, the company is now valued at $157 billion.  However, as the article explains, OpenAI’s financial projections include some rather bizarre figures and exclude major expenses such as AI training costs.  The company also suggests that its ChatGPT platform will make more money than its API, and despite securing funding, industry predictions are quoting a loss of $5 billion by the end of the year, rising to an estimated $14 billion a year by 2026.
