In 2020 the Cataloguing & Indexing Group (CIG) changes its name to Metadata & Discovery Group (MDG). Join us at our biennial conference as we explore the transformation of our profession and its increasing importance to the information economy.
Conference theme
Cataloguing and indexing are well-established recognised skill sets which continue to be at the forefront of our group's offer. Our name change further reflects the fact that, as well as creating metadata, information professionals also need to manage, migrate and edit metadata in order to enable discovery of resources, and that they do so increasingly in non-traditional sectors.
For this year's conference we invited proposals around the theme of metadata and discovery with an emphasis on 'bigness': big ideas, big projects, big ambitions and big impact.
Free and Online
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic our conference will now be held online and is free to attend! The programme has been re-designed to fit an online environment but our aim remains to create a friendly and engaging atmosphere similar to our physical event with lively discussions during the breakout sessions. We will be using Zoom and will provide technical guidelines and fuller details on how the sessions will run upon registration.
Registration
We are very pleased to announce that registration is now finally open from the 22nd of July and thank you for your patience!
As always, our event is open to both members and non-members both at home and abroad but please be aware that we are limited to 300 places in total.
If you don't think you will be able to follow the full conference live, either because of time zone restrictions or other commitments, rest assured you will be able to access the presentations via our SlideShare account and YouTube channel following the conference, and read the conference proceedings in our journal, Catalogue & Index.
