Amazon S3 Now Supports Versioning
Earlier this week, Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced support for version control for assets which will allow users of their S3 Cloud based storage facility to retrieve overwritten or deleted files.
Versioning provides an additional layer of protection for your S3 objects. You can easily recover from unintended user errors or application failures. You can also use Versioning for data retention and archiving.
A number of DAM vendors now offer Cloud hosting that utilises services such as S3 and it will be interesting to see how DAM software and Cloud based service providers offerings converge as both markets develop.
