Call for Contributions: Will Generative AI Make DAM Obsolete?

As generative AI technologies evolve at breakneck speed—producing images, video, text and audio on demand—they pose fundamental questions for the future of traditional DAM systems.  If assets can be generated dynamically, personalised at scale, and versioned in real time, what becomes of the carefully structured repositories, metadata standards and governance models DAM professionals have long relied on?

To investigate the topic further, we are inviting our readers and subscribers to contribute their experiences, expertise and insights on a subject that has become increasingly urgent across the digital asset management landscape.  Articles may address implications for asset lifecycle management, copyright and IP, metadata, content authenticity, AI governance, or organisational workflows.  We welcome critical commentary, use cases, thought leadership, and grounded forecasts.  Contributions should be original, insightful, and aimed at DAM practitioners and vendors, content strategists, and technologists.

Has GenAI affected your role as a DAM Manager, Content Creator, Photographer or Graphic Artist?  Has AI allowed your organisation’s DAM to evolve from a mere storage platform to a hub that intelligently orchestrates more of the digital content supply chain?  Does AI undermine the value of carefully curated assets, or does it amplify the need for robust asset provenance and control?  Could generative models be integrated into DAM workflows to enhance creativity and agility—or do they signal a more disruptive shift altogether, ultimately resulting in human redundancies?

Submissions should be between 800–1,500 words, exclusive to DAM News (i.e. not previously published elsewhere) and adhere to our editorial guidelines.

You can send your contributions to russell.mcveigh@activo-consulting.com.

We reserve the right to modify submissions in order to comply with our editorial guidelines and will notify the author should we need to make any changes.  We will also provide a link to either you or your company’s website and/or LinkedIn profile.
