Call for Contributions: DAM and The Digital Asset Supply Chain

This month’s editorial theme is DAM and the Digital Asset Supply Chain (DASC).  DAM and DASC are closely intertwined, playing complementary roles in the lifecycle of digital content.  DAM refers to the systems, processes, and technologies used to store, organise, manage, and retrieve digital assets like images, videos, documents, and multimedia.  Its primary goal is to ensure that these assets are easily accessible, searchable, and secure, providing a centralised repository for organisations to manage their digital content efficiently.

The Digital Asset Supply Chain, on the other hand, encompasses the end-to-end flow of these digital assets from creation to consumption.  It includes processes such as content production, editing, storage, distribution, and archiving.  DASC is a broader concept that covers the entire lifecycle of a digital asset, ensuring that it reaches the right stakeholders in the right format and at the right time.

The relationship between DAM and DASC is symbiotic.  DAM acts as a crucial hub within the DASC, providing the infrastructure needed to manage and optimise the flow of assets throughout the supply chain.  Together, they ensure that digital assets are effectively managed, reducing bottlenecks, enhancing collaboration, and driving efficiency across the asset lifecycle.  In a world where digital content is growing exponentially, the integration of DAM into the digital asset supply chain is vital for organisations to maintain agility and competitiveness.

To explore this topic further, we’re asking our readers and subscribers to share their own experiences, expertise and insights on DAM and the Digital Asset Supply Chain.  Have you recently integrated other technologies into your DAM ecosystem?  Is your organisation struggling with specific content bottlenecks?  What tips do you have for joining the dots in order to see the bigger digital picture?
