  • I’d suggest that the search interface itself is also a fundamental part of the puzzle. When metadata is available, it can inform the DAM software about the kind content the user is accessing, and the search engine can adapt (for example, by providing guided search or faceted search features).

    I’d argue that a better search solution doesn’t need the metadata to change much, as long as the basics are there (eg. camera settings, filenames) but that it needs to work more deeply with the search results before filtering them for the user.
