Job Description

The Taxonomist role will build and maintain industry-leading, intuitive, and comprehensive taxonomy and schema structures to optimize global, online product discovery for ADI's omnichannel experience.  The position will collaborate cross-functionally to provide best practices and subject matter expertise related to taxonomy and metadata solutions to align the ADI taxonomy and schema to customer needs. This role will have the opportunity to directly impact internal and external customer experiences by making it easier and better to locate and find products.  The role will play a critical part in ADI's master data group and data cleaning and governance processes.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Create product classification schemas, attributes, and other metadata to improve Product Information usability for both internal and external customers.
  • Analyze requests from internal teams and provide rationale and solution documentation to solve taxonomy and item creation challenges.
  • Maximize the effectiveness of the technology infrastructure that supports item creation, taxonomy, and additional product information and work to improve tools and processes.
  • Create and maintain documentation for managing item creation, taxonomies, and additional product data.
  • With stakeholders, optimize standards and workflow requirements for product information used by our external and internal customers.
  • Advocate for the development and enhancement of corporate product taxonomy and metadata architecture and data governance standards while keeping with industry best practices.
  • Champion the adherence to data governance best practices and standards.
  • Developing an approach to measuring taxonomy integrity, effectiveness, and impact
  • Work independently to represent the department in cross-functional projects and understand and disseminate complex technical information to a wider audience.
  • Provide regular status reports and metrics on team activities to assure that workload is balanced and within deadlines
  • Expand and refine data retrieval techniques to utilize our extensive product catalog and make sure products end up in the right place for our customers
  • Train and mentor colleagues in PIM/MDM implementation activities and best practices
YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Information Management, Library Science or equivalent experience required
  • 5 years of professional experience developing and designing/managing taxonomies and schemas
  • Strong working knowledge of Office 365 Suite

  • Experience demonstrating an understanding of PIM, PIM Taxonomy, Data Stewardship, Data Quality, Metadata Management, Data Architecture, data modeling, business intelligence, and Data Integration
  •  Well versed with information management, creating and implementing metadata standards, schemas, and taxonomies
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects at one time to make aggressive deadlines
  • Ability and willingness to execute at all levels, strategic and tactical, to deliver results
  • Strong data querying and modeling skills using analytics tools (ie:  MS Access, Excel, SQL)
  • Experience with a changing growth culture in a corporate environment
  • Domain knowledge of B2B marketing and sales or equivalent
  • Passion for improving Product Data Management and Governance
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and reasoning skills
  • Strong people interaction, facilitation, and communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organization skills; attention to detail
