We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Senior Specialist, Design and Creative Services to join Sinai Health’s award-winning Corporate Communications team. As part of the Creative Services team, we collaborate with multiple internal teams and external agencies to deliver best-in-class brand and creative experiences.

This position will appeal to a creative thinker seeking the opportunity to be a champion brand ambassador. They are passionate about finding and producing unique solutions with high visual impact for digital, social media and print materials.

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent project management skills, with an exceptional eye for detail combined with the creativity and skills to execute design. They take initiative, are driven and thrive on building relationships with colleagues and clients.

Key responsibilities:

Leadership

  • Provide creative direction and strategic advice on brand and visual communications, best practices and emerging trends
  • Supervises, motivates and trains graphic designers, ensuring effective teamwork, high standards of work and organizational performance, continuous learning and encourages innovation in others – this includes the scheduling, assigning and reviewing of work
  • Consult with communications team and clients to interpret and execute communications strategies and organization priorities, and to clarify subject material and design objectives
  • Lead the planning, organizing and design direction for projects and initiatives
  • Provide administration of the creative service budget, administer service contracts and track project costs
  • Implement and evaluate processes and procedures, propose improvements to services and monitor key metrics for continual service improvement
Branding

  • As a brand ambassador, ensure Sinai Health’s visual image, identity and design standards are adhered to for all designs and materials
  • Develop and maintain user-friendly tools, organizational standardized templates and experiences that support adoption of the Sinai Health brand for the communications team and Sinai Health people
  • Consult and provide direction to external partners and suppliers on appropriate use of the visual identity and brand guidelines
  • Complete environmental scans to maintain consistent use of the visual and brand identity in public, clinical and staff spaces    
Graphic Design

  • Conceptualize, design and produce branded collateral for public-facing and employee-facing audiences
  • Deliver impactful, innovative, creative digital design and print solutions
  • Provide creative direction on integrated campaigns with digital, print and social media components
  • Perform quality control checks throughout the design process from conceptual development to proof checking to file archival
  • Ensure designs and materials are inclusive and comply with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA)
Production and Project Coordination

  • Maintain project tracking which includes ongoing client contact, status reports, design production proofing, production estimates, quality control measures, post production assessment, client input and feedback
  • Manage and maintain detailed records of all projects and logo use
  • Assist in executing and building the DAM (Digital Asset Management)
  • Coordinate production including quoting and approvals, delivery, distribution and installation
  • Solve problems associated with production, technology or software
Job Requirements

  • Three-year diploma/degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Graphic Design, Visual Design or equivalent.
  • Minimum five years of experience working in Visual Design, Digital Media, and/or Digital Arts.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and relevant graphic design tools, and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office including proficiency in PowerPoint to create visually compelling presentation decks.
  • Excellent understanding of design principles, hierarchy, typographical, layout and production across a range of digital and print media with the ability to visualize and implement creative concepts.
  • Strong knowledge of digital and print workflows, processes and best practices.
  • Experience in managing and mentoring teams, with the ability to motivate team members by recognizing potential for growth and continued learning.
  • Demonstrate a passion for user-centric, empathetic design and a strong understanding of user experience best practices and principles.
  • Stay current on latest digital technology, design trends and best practices to bring examples forward that could elevate team’s work.
  • Demonstrate leadership, partnership-building and negotiations skills to lead special/creative projects and form partnerships, foster cooperation and achieve common goals.
  • Superior attention to detail with excellent project and time management skills.
  • Demonstrates initiative with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, multitasking and dynamic environment.
  • Hold a sense of personal responsibility for the overall success of projects, share credit and recognizes people for their accomplishments.
