Job Summary:

The Senior Specialist, Corporate Content, supports building understanding of BCLC by providing strategic advice and support to bring content and stories about BCLC to life through engaging and timely corporate content – in various formats for a full range of audiences. The Senior Specialist, Corporate Content, works collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement corporate content strategies that support strong awareness of BCLC and its business priorities and initiatives.

Accountabilities:

  • Develops and implements corporate content strategies for owned and earned communications channels, including corporate website(s), videos, advertorials, media materials, presentations, fact sheets, infographics, reports, articles and speaking notes.
  • Develops and oversees BCLC corporate editorial guidelines / style guides to support consistent positioning and tone of voice across corporate channels. Develops and oversees other editorial guides as required. Develops and oversees content strategy, content development and content governance for corporate website(s).  Monitors media, issues and other activity that may affect BCLC and the gaming industry and recommends content-strategy changes in consideration of external factors.
  • Researches and develops engaging content that effectively communicates with players, the public, media outlets and other target audiences to build understanding of BCLC and the gaming industry and to support corporate initiatives and objectives.
  • Collaborates with marketing, communications, social media and other internal teams to foster alignment of content strategies and outcomes across all BCLC channels and to cross-promote effectively across channels, as needed. Supports in creating corporate website content in co-ordination with Senior Social Media Specialist to further enhance public & player experience.
  • Manages external partners and agencies supporting corporate-content development (videos, photography), where necessary.
  • Consults with stakeholders on corporate messages, audience, delivery and best practices for communications and provides recommendations based on desired outcomes and BCLC’s external communications strategies.
  • Develops, analyzes and shares corporate content metrics.
  • Proactively cultivates strong relationships with internal teams and helps maintain the reputation of the Communications Department through professionalism, innovation and positive contributions in meetings.
  • Supports public relations and proactive earned-media activities by supporting media campaigns, media content, media pitches and other external-communications tactics that build understanding of BCLC and the gaming industry.  
Minimum Required Qualifications:

Education and Experience

  • Degree or diploma in communications, public affairs, marketing, journalism and or public relations;
  • 4 to 6 years current, related experience in a strategic, content-focused communications position;
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of strategic and proactive content strategies and communications plans;
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Technical Requirements

  • Exceptional written communication/copywriting skills, editing skills and capacity to tailor information for various audiences;
  • Demonstrated understanding of marketing, communications, media relations, and website usability best practices;
  • Experience with photography and videography is an asset;
  • Experience with video editing is an asset;
  • Experience or strong understanding of Adobe Creative Suite, or similar products
  • Advanced understanding of digital media and web content-management systems (particularly AEM) is an asset.
  • Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal, presentation, and public-relations skills;
  • Demonstrated leadership in developing and maintaining cooperative and productive working relationships;
  • Capacity for creativity and research and ability to exercise initiative, resourcefulness and judgement;
  • Accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities;
  • Ability to work both independently and within team and to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines;
  • Adaptability and flexibility, including ability to manage competing deadline pressures, ambiguity and change;
  • Strong computer skills - MS Office suite.
