Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. The Senior Content Producer is responsible for telling the Metrolinx story by developing compelling video and visual content for digital and social platforms. This includes creative and strategic responsibility for filming, editing and the delivery of multichannel digital content that supports priority business objectives. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Editorial Content, this role is a dynamic storyteller for Metrolinx and its audiences both external and internal. This fantastic storyteller will come with great experience in media and digital storytelling with a talent for creating custom content for diverse audiences across many platforms.

What will I be doing?

  • Produce compelling content from concept to delivery for all platforms, including video and digital channels.
  • Work with partners to develop digital content that supports strategic objectives and is aligned with brand standards.
  • Film, edit and produce video content in support of organizational objectives. Develop simple motion graphics for video.
  • Work with internal clients, producers, creative and art directors, talent, as well as shoot independently.
  • Visualize video solutions through the development of storyboards and develop production scripts and briefs to support business requirements.
  • Assist in location scouting and permissions and setup and capture of footage, including, lighting and audio. Edit footage in post-production.
  • Data “wrangling,” encoding & delivery for web and broadcast. Write content for various platforms, where required.
  • Capture still photographs and build galleries and other visual products.
  • Communicate with partners, where applicable, regarding the production and delivery of content.
  • Assist in guiding the use of corporate, sub-brand, program and project visual identities to achieve alignment and consistency, and to build brand integrity and recognition through all customer touch points.
  • Assist in the oversight of the digital asset management system (DAM) and media management, available to staff across the organization, and ensures assets are properly archived.
  • Attend Editorial team meetings to assist in maintaining efficient coordination of projects.
  • Champion the implementation and support of new Creative processes and tools with business and creative team counterparts.
  • Collaborate with agencies and other vendor partners, where applicable, in the delivery of video, motion graphic project and other content.
  • Develop, build and sustain relationships with internal partners across the organization to understand business requirements, deliver support based on expectations, and collect feedback that will drive improvements/enhancements to processes.
  • Keep up to date on emerging techniques, trends, behaviours and industry best practices associated with multimedia content production and promotion.
  • Support the development of creative communications tools and templates that streamline processes.
  • Assist in monitoring project progress to ensure that planning objectives are delivered on time and within budget, as required.

  • Develop and deploy multimedia initiatives, based on the organizations strategic vision; connect and align projects with corporate goals.
  • Assist in directing consultants engaged in project teams; deliver timely feedback to ensure a cohesive operational unit; support monitoring assignments and projects for adherence to timelines and the achievement of performance objectives.
What skills & qualifications do I need?

  • Completion of a diploma or degree in Film, Visual Communications, Graphic Design, Multimedia, Journalism, Radio and TV/broadcasting or related discipline – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
  • Minimum five (5) years’ progressive experience in multimedia content development.
  • Extensive experience creating dynamic digital video content.
  • Familiarity and experience working with the diverse communities that make up the region.
  • Prior experience working with creative agencies and related service contracts.
  • In-depth industry knowledge and thorough understanding of best practices in: video, typography, illustration, photography, social media, motion graphic design and corporate identity.
  • Expert understanding of branding principles and hierarchy.
  • Expert use of video production hardware / equipment, including, cameras, lighting and audio, plus ability to use drones, gimbals, sliders, etc.
  • Expert knowledge of video production and graphic software suites, such as the Adobe Creative Cloud, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Final Cut Pro X, etc., is a requirement.
  • Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly articulate creative ideas and direction to clients and partners.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills to clearly articulate multimedia and design solutions to internal/external stakeholders as well as, management.
  • Excellent tact, diplomacy, political acuity, and understanding of the public “pulse”
