University of Manchester Expired |
||
Manchester, UK |
The University of Manchester Library is one of only five National Research Libraries and the third largest academic library in the UK. Our vast and rich collections (both print and digital) help us to deliver a world class library and information service for the University. We sit at the heart of the University experience for both learning and research and are fully committed to widening access to our expertise, collections and services to researchers, local schools, and others in the community.
The Library's Special Collections are among the richest holdings of rare books, manuscripts, archives, maps and visual collections in the world and are an outstanding resource. The collections are housed on three sites – the John Rylands Research Institute & Library, Main Library on the University campus and the Ahmed Iqbal Ullah RACE centre at Manchester Central Library. Through the John Rylands Research Institute, we deliver an extensive programme of research on the collections, in collaboration with academic colleagues at the University.
We are seeking to appoint a Rare Print Metadata Specialist who will play an important role in unlocking the potential of our rare print collections. You will have significant expertise in producing high quality metadata in line with current cataloguing standards including MARC, RDA and DCRMR. You will be proactive in collaborating with Library colleagues and curators to ensure seamless collection throughput and quality assurance, which enables timely discovery and access to our rare print Special Collections for use in teaching, learning and research. You will manage and support a small Rare Print team through the creation, implementation, and monitoring of metadata workflows.
Culture and Values
The University of Manchester Library strives to create a working environment that is supportive and rewarding, providing a platform from which we can achieve our ambitious strategy. This culture and our values are demonstrated through the University's values. It's important that all colleagues share in this vision and are committed to helping create a working environment that is both rewarding and fulfilling. Please consider this before applying for this role.
