Principal Data Strategist

Curaleaf’s Principal Data Strategist is responsible for developing and fostering a data strategy and governance framework and roadmap for enterprise information assets. This role will organize and lead governance aspects of the analytics center of excellence focusing on the data lifecycle. This position requires a holistic view across multiple areas of the organization as well as the industry to ensure policies and standards are appropriately applied aligning with the business needs and applies advanced knowledge of functional area to find creative solutions to problems and opportunities that are impact broad segments of the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive a shift in culture to view data as an enterprise asset and instill confidence in sanctioned numbers to enable data-driven decisions.
  • Define, manage and advance data strategy and governance principles, policies and programs for stewardship, advocacy, and custodianship of data and analytics, in concert with legal, information security, and corporate risk and compliance through a defined data life cycle.
  • Define accountabilities in a manner that introduces checks-and-balances between business and technology teams, and between those who create/collect information, those who manage it, those who use it, and those who introduce standards and compliance requirements.
  • Support proactive and reactive change management and communication activities for reference data values and the structure/use of master data and metadata.
  • Establish metrics for tracking and measuring the value of data governance initiatives primarily focused on data consistency and quality of data.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science or related field or relevant experience
  • Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of twelve (12) years directly related experience in information technology or data strategy and governance
  • Five (5) years of experience leading or designing data management and data analytics programs to drive business outcomes.
  • Working knowledge of the following preferred:
    • Exploiting data as an asset to improve decision making and deliver strategic business objectives.
    • Develop data management best practices.
    • Developing organizational data literacy.
    • Enterprise asset and taxonomy views preferred.

Other knowledge, skills, or abilities:

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to drive collaboration and cooperation across business units
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to clearly articulate insights to leadership and relevant stakeholders.
  • Intellectual curiosity with strong creative and imaginative prowess to generate ideas to solve business problems.
  • Ability to distill complex data into concise and easily understood concepts and recommendations
  • Strong understanding of project management techniques with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities, priorities, tasks and projects simultaneously.
