12 month fixed term contract based on-site at our stunning Malmesbury location in Wiltshire.

As a Metadata Specialist for Imagery, you will work closely with various team members to improve the discovery of and access to the library’s digital and print collections through a variety of activities in metadata creation, enhancement, maintenance and troubleshooting.

The Imagery team is one of the core channel teams in the ‘Dyson Creative area’ of Dyson. Its primary role is to produce beautiful technology portrayals, which support campaigns across all consumer journey touch points, on print, on TV, in digital, in store and outdoor.

Function Overview as a Metadata Specialist (Imagery) you will have responsibility for:

  • Creating metadata for a wide range of resources, including loading of external data and the manual creation of bibliographic catalogue records.
  • Carrying out appropriate spot checking of catalogue records for new acquisitions which are imported into the library management system as part of the shelf-ready process.
  • Carrying out cataloguing of archival records, to ensure optimisation of the data and the system.
Accountabilities, to provide metadata and co-ordination duties:

  • Tagging and cataloguing existing bank of assets.
  • Entering, maintaining and amending metadata for new assets.
  • Maintain and enforce logical, relevant metadata conventions and maintenance rules for use across the Image team.
  • Training new Image team members on best metadata practice.
  • Tracking and reporting re Digital Rights of images and related channels.
  • Support uploading of new assets to the DAM.
  • Upgrading legacy metadata.
  • Working with and supporting the FODE (Future of Direct and Experience) project team to develop and maintain current and legacy metadata.
  • Working to improve image searching for users across the Dyson world.
  • Resolve Imagery permission/access issues
  • Scanning requests (PR, Internal Comms, Executive requests)
  • Other Adhoc tasks to support smooth running of Imagery Team.


  • Proof of previously working in a role with the need for exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to answer queries and interrogate data and information to resolve issues.
  • Ability to question and challenge requests, when appropriate, to ensure quality and integrity of Dyson Imagery.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, global environment.
  • Ability to work on Malmesbury Campus.
  • Ability to learn and understand the Dyson product ranges.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft O365 products and working in a digital environment.

  • Previous experience working with Digital Asset Management Systems/Libraries would be an advantage.
  • Previous experience working with the media industry or physical archiving would be ideal, but not mandatory.
  • Experience and understanding of digital asset management systems (Censhare is an advantage).
  • Practical understanding of metadata tagging and taxonomies (metadata indexing for the uninitiated).
  • Experience with maintaining metadata across a large image library.
  • Experience with online Image libraries, for example: Shutterstock, etc.
