SUMMARY/POSITION OVERVIEW
The Media Specialist is responsible for media management, encode/transcode, ingest and archive of media assets. They will ensure that all corresponding metadata is accurate and preserved within internal systems. This individual also establishes and communicates best practices to internal team members and departments regarding content workflows and media specifications. Additionally, interfaces with Post-Production Technical Services, Media Technology and Broadcast Engineering departments relating to current and future workflows, and maintenance and troubleshooting of internal systems and processes.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
The Media Specialist is responsible for media management, encode/transcode, ingest and archive of media assets. They will ensure that all corresponding metadata is accurate and preserved within internal systems. This individual also establishes and communicates best practices to internal team members and departments regarding content workflows and media specifications. Additionally, interfaces with Post-Production Technical Services, Media Technology and Broadcast Engineering departments relating to current and future workflows, and maintenance and troubleshooting of internal systems and processes.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Encode and Transcode of media assets to defined specifications using internal media processing systems on behalf of internal and external clients.
- Ingest and Archive of all media assets throughout the enterprise using approved tools and systems.
- Performs Media Management of all assets within online content storage systems based on approved workflows and policies.
- Act as super-user within Media Asset Management system to ensure metadata is accurate and assets are properly organized.
- Act as super-user within media processing systems to manage and create new workflows as needed.
- Performs assigned tasks within internal systems, including but not limited to moving assets through workflow portals, viewing proxies and inputting file names or metadata.
- Coordinates with Manager of Post-Production Technical Services & Manager of Digital Asset Management on any legacy, current or future content workflows.
- Creates and keeps training materials updated and provides training and backup to other Media Specialists as required.
- Monitors all production storage environments and provides statistics and reporting as needed.
- Provide L1 support for media asset management and media processing systems.
- Troubleshoot with internal or external clients on projects and issues as they arise.
- Strong understanding of the technical aspects of media, including video and audio codecs
- Deep knowledge of media workflows within post-production, mastering and fulfillment.
- Familiarity with MAM/DAM, editorial and media processing systems
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to adapt to and manage rapidly changing needs.
- Ability to manage several tasks at one time.
- Ability to collaborate with and meet the needs of internal and external clients.
