Position description

This position will manage a clinical repository of non-diagnostic digital assets, including videos. The primary stakeholder groups are surgeons, clinicians, and educators. Previous experience with enterprise digital asset management (DAM) systems, clinical medical record systems (EPIC), and Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) are preferred.

This position will begin as a telework role and will transition to a hybrid telework and on-site position, as CDC and Mayo Clinic guidelines allow. The on-site work will be located at St. Marys Hospital Campus in Rochester, MN.

The Media Asset Librarian performs professional level responsibilities encompassing library science, archival work, information management, and information technology. This position may perform work related to Media Support Services (MSS) service lines, technical services, systems, or archives. Responsibilities related to MSS service lines may include the provision of reference, research and educational services to faculty, staff, students, patients, and others. There is an emphasis on proactive client service in researching, identifying, and retrieving relevant files upon request or training clients to do the same. Technical services responsibilities may include importing, cataloging, editing, and retrieving digital media asset files into and from a media asset management system in support of promoting patient care, education, and research. Staff may also develop collections, manage, and contribute expertise to the institution’s collections plan in support of the MSS service line. May manage metadata / cataloging standards for digital media assets and ensure copyright compliance for digital media assets housed in the repository. Effectively resolves problems and roadblocks as they occur. Interacts with internal and external peers and/or managers to exchange semi-complex information related to assigned activities. Receives work in the form of short-term assignments that often require the application of independent judgment. The Media Asset Librarian may have project planning responsibilities.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in library science or related field and minimum of 2 years of experience. Basic level knowledge in the following areas is required: information services, metadata and cataloging, information management, instruction and instructional design, leadership and management or equivalent is required.
