This person supports the development of an information and data culture at AVEVA by understanding and modeling the organization to influence the way information is shared, managed, and used in business operations. Aids in understanding and shaping requirements to ensure information and business strategy are achievable and the value of information assets can be maximised. The team you’ll be joining is a multi-disciplinary team that works across Business and Information Architecture, so you’ll be exposed to methods that work across both architecture domains to communicate business value faster and more effectively than from a single viewpoint.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct business information modelling: Create and manage business information models in all their forms, including conceptual models, relational database designs, message models and others.
  • Enable enterprise information management: Ensure that the architecture is used as a lens and a filter to identify, prioritize, and execute the data and analytic initiatives with clear line of sight to enterprise strategies and business outcomes.
  • Enhance decision making: Design and implement tools such as business information models and decision rights frameworks to provide the organization with a future-state view of the information landscape.
  • Manage risk: Aid the identification and communication of business risks within the information architecture and the wider enterprise architecture. Support the Security architecture team to implement data classifications and collaborate with other architecture domains to design reference architectures to instantiate information security by design.
  • Secure data and analytic assets: Aid in the analysis of data and analytics security requirements and solutions, and work with the chief information security officer (CISO) [and CDO] to ensure that enterprise data and analytics assets are treated as protected assets.
  • Surface information priority: As a member of the Business Architecture team, you will work with tools such as business capability models and value chains to assess the opportunities, gaps and risks as well as identifying the value delivered (and the value of the information used) at each stage of value creation.
  • Contribute to information strategy: Work with the Business and Information Architecture team to partner with business leaders to develop and refine the information strategy to identify opportunities to improve the information lifecycle, identify opportunities for value creation and delivery through the enterprise data landscape.

Skills and Qualifications

  • This role requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems or a related study (or equivalent project-related experience).
  • A minimum of three-five years of experience in IT, with at least two years in information system design.
  • In-depth experience of designing and implementing information solutions.
  • Hands-on experience implementing information architecture governance frameworks and an understanding of enterprise architecture principles.
  • Three to five years' experience as a data analyst is highly desirable.
  • Experience of back-office IT systems (SAP, Oracle ERP, Salesforce)
  • Experience of Master Data Management (MDM) and Reference Data Management (RDM) (preferably using Informatica) and Data Warehousing technology (preferably using Azure Synapse)
  • Effective conceptualization, pattern recognition and teaming skills.
  • Business domain, data/content and process understanding (which are more important than technical skills).
  • System integration experience, including interface design, and familiarity with web-oriented architecture techniques.
  • Data modelling and information classification expertise at the enterprise level.
  • Understanding of common information architecture frameworks and information models.
  • Understanding of metamodels, taxonomies and ontologies, as well as of the challenges of applying structured techniques (data modelling) to less-structured sources.
  • Familiarity with data science concepts, as well as MDM/RDM, business intelligence, and data warehouse patterns and governance.
  • Experience with distributed management and analytics in cloud and hybrid environments and techniques used for data integration, for example, microservices and event-based architectures.
  • Business acumen, and the ability to communicate to executives, business domain stakeholders and technical staff alike.
  • Demonstrated influence, communication, presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Experience with innovation and ideation methods, such as design thinking.
  • Knowledge of problem analysis, structured analysis and design, and programming techniques, as well as familiarity with one or more enterprise architecture frameworks.
  • Ability to assess rapidly changing technologies and apply them to business needs.
  • Strong communication and persuasion skills, including the ability to create marketing and messaging materials that meet stakeholder needs.
  • Ability to analyze project, program and portfolio needs, as well as determine the resources needed to achieve objectives and overcome cross-functional barriers.
