We are looking for an experienced Data Architect to lead the Architecture Team and be responsible for the design and implementation of the enterprise-wide data strategy, ensuring data supports the current and future business needs. You will have a passion for creating order within reporting structures, be experienced in Data Warehousing/Analytics, Master Data Management, end-to-end data architecture, and be comfortable with different modelling methodologies and technologies. Deep knowledge of the on premise Microsoft data stack (T-SQL/SSIS/SSRS/SSAS/Power BI) as well and experience of the Azure Data Platform (Data Lake, ADF, Synapse Analytics etc.), and a solid understanding of RESTful APIs is essential

Role Scope

  • You will work alongside other strategic leaders to develop and evolve the enterprise wide data strategy to support delivery of corporate objectives
  • You will work with a variety of colleagues, including Architects, Product Owners, and the Engineering and Analytics community, to ensure the best data solutions are delivered
  • You will be recognised as a thought leader and trusted adviser in the area of expertise by both business and technology domains, through building and maintaining appropriate Enterprise Architecture artefacts including; Entity Relationship Models, Data Dictionary, and developing data taxonomy to aid data traceability
Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and People Management

  • Working with the broader architecture community to support architects and teams in other domains; sharing personal learning and expertise, and sharing plans to promote alignment and innovation across TS&W Digital and Technology (DTS) Organisation.
  • Ensure that data architecture colleagues are working to the data standards set for TS&W
Enterprise Data Architecture

  • Specify at a strategic level the business functions and data subjects needed to support future business, enabling the development of an Information Architecture
  • Establish and communicate TS&W's information management strategy, developing it as an integral part of the business strategy
  • Set standards for Datamodelling and design tools and techniques, advising on their application, and ensuring compliance
Operational Responsibilities

  • Support data architects to establish, modify or maintain data structures and their associated components (eg entity descriptions, relationship descriptions, attribute definitions)
  • Triage new requirements, providing impact assessments and appropriate estimates for amending data models in line with solution designs and requirements.
  • Enhancing data models and as their custodian, driving alignment as appropriate across multiple systems, supporting 3rd parties as necessary to ensure design congruency
Financial Responsibilities

Ensure team backlog scope and prioritisation aligns with investment goals of organisation to ensure data needs are fully embraced by initiatives which support business outcomes, noting the cost of information provision/development vs its benefit

Essential Experience Profile

  • Experience as an enterprise data architect, with in-depth knowledge of and able to consult on various technologies and industry best practices around data architecture in both cloud-based and on-prem solutions
  • Experience in end-to-end implementation of data intensive analytics-based initiatives, with a comprehensive understanding of data warehousing and data transformation (extract, transform and load) processes and the supporting technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Data Lake, other analytics products
  • Excellent problem solving and Datamodelling skills (logical, physical, semantic and integration models) including; normalisation, OLAP/OLTP principles and entity relationship analysis
  • Experience of mapping key enterprise data entities to business capabilities and applications supported by a strong knowledge of data lineage from source to output
  • An understanding of big data architectures and emerging trends, with strong analytical and numerical skills which support easy interpretation and analysis of large volumes of data
