Reporting to the Associate University Librarian, Library Academic Services Support, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the discoverability and accessibility of our digital collections. Collaborate with colleagues, lead metadata projects, and drive continuous improvement in digital resource management. The successful candidate will bring expertise in metadata standards, digital resource management, and a passion for enhancing access to digital collections. With strong project management skills and a collaborative approach, they will lead initiatives that drive innovation and improve discoverability. Their experience with digital preservation, metadata systems, and a commitment to continuous improvement will ensure the library's resources are effectively managed and accessible, supporting the academic mission of the institution.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) or equivalent from an ALA-accredited program.
  • Experience in metadata creation and management, including familiarity with metadata standards such as MARC, Dublin Core, MODS, etc.
  • Knowledge of digital resource management systems and tools, such as integrated library systems (ILS), digital asset management systems (DAMS), and institutional repositories.
  • Experience with digital preservation practices and principles.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to work effectively with colleagues across different departments.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with trends and developments in digital librarianship and metadata standards.
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python) or data manipulation tools is an asset.
  • Familiarity with linked data principles and practices is an asset.
