GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Digital Asset Management (DAM) Lead will have the opportunity to lead and coordinate across the River Campus Libraries in support of digital preservation and scholarly assets management. The position offers the opportunity to help steward the future of our digital content management platforms, including the digital preservation platform, Preservica, and the next-generation institutional repository. The person in this role will work closely with multiple academic library departments, including Digital Initiatives, Rare Books and Special Collections, Metadata Services, Research Initiatives, Learning Initiatives, and Library Information Technologies, as well as faculty and staff, to help shape policy and praxis around digital preservation and institutional research platforms. The work will be a combination of project-oriented and task-oriented, individual and team- based work, and short-term and long-term planning. The DAM Lead will work with current standards for preservation and scholarly repositories, gain additional working knowledge of structured data and metadata standards, build upon core IT skills such as scripting, data ingest, data governance, and data analysis relevant to repository assets, and other platforms for content management. This role will also supervise a full-time Digital Assets Technician.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and manage the policy and workflows for digital asset management systems and services in collaboration with a range of library staff and departments; test and recommend changes as the repository platforms mature
  • Create and maintain effective quality control standards to ensure repositories’ content is accurate, reliable, and added in a timely
  • manner, so that library staff and researchers receive the support and access they require
  • Collaborate with external and internal service providers and vendors to resolve technical issues and make improvements to repository platforms. Monitor support effectiveness and ensure efficient and relevant support is available to all repository users
  • Develop and run reports on data ingests, checksums, system milestones, data audits, data migrations, and other system and data analysis needs
  • Maintain expertise and awareness of developments in preservation and scholarly repositories, repository management, research information systems, and open access publishing, providing guidance to others on their relevance and application
  • Supervise the day-to-day activities of the Digital Assets Technician. Develop and execute department and individual goals and objectives.
  • Partner with staff to promote the repositories and their associated services, including delivering campus presentations and training assistance to campus communities

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree, required
  • Master’s Degree in Library Science, or Computer Science preferred
  • 4-8 years of repository management experience, preferably in an academic setting (Or equivalent combination of education and experience.)
