Role description
The Data Governance specialist will actively engage Business, I&T and OT stakeholders, facilitate communication and foster collaboration within Business sectors & projects. This will include conducting data management assessment and identifying pain points and gaps for capabilities including data quality, data privacy, data retention and other data policies and contribute to building the future state of both data governance strategy and it’s roadmap. This will also cover the Responsibility to execute the identified data governance initiatives ensuring that the right processes and roles/responsibilities are defined and enforced.
The Data Governance specialist will also play a key role in the development of Enterprise Data Governance standards, approach and deliverables and provide guidance and support to various audiences around Data Governance concepts and value. The candidate must be passionate about data governance and process efficiency. The candidate must be able to communicate effectively with team members and have an understanding of data catalog, data quality, data security, data movement, and data modeling.

Summary of tasks
- Perform data discovery process to identify key data domains that support business objectives
- Create and maintain Business and Technical metadata management repositories such as business glossary and data catalog
- Understand how data flows internally as well as collaboration with data owners to support data governance
- Ability to identify and classify sensitive data and define data masking rules for personal identifiable information
- Support identification, analysis, and resolution of data issues
- Support the implementation and maintenance of data policies
- Work with delivery teams to maintain/evolve data governance model as well as the definition of best practices
- Ability to develop and maintain key data governance documentation, user guides, and other necessary training documents

- Works independently with little supervision
- Minimum 5 years of Total IT experience as Business Analyst, Systems Analyst or related roles.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant Data Governance experience
- Axon, Enterprise Data Catalog or other comparable Data Governance tools (Collibra / Alation, etc. )
- Generic Understanding of Cloud concepts and ecosystem (AWS, Azure or GCP)
- Exposure to Data quality and Data Profiling concepts and tools
- Knowledge of Excel or equivalent productivity tools
- Bachelor’s Degree in a technical or business field, with an interest in data management
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science or Engineering*
