As a Content Architect in Amazon Consumer Retail Customer Service Support (C2S2), you will own the design of scalable and efficient content architecture for customer support content viewed more than 2 billion times per year. This role will work on information models, workflow automation, metadata architecture and content validation rules.

C2S2 is looking for someone who knows how to build content solutions to solve business problems and enable great customer experiences. We are seeking a Content Architect who will focus on creating and delivering improved, more intuitive and simplified content experiences in line with our future vision and product roadmap.

The role will advocate for both the customer and content developers by designing new content management lifecycles, content models, and DITA reuse architecture while driving automation through metadata management. You will use industry leading tools, techniques and architectures to partially or completely automate common, repeatable content management tasks to minimize manual effort and drive efficiency.

The successful candidate has demonstrated technical leadership in a large, multilingual content development team. You will have extensive experience with DITA and an enterprise-wide Content Management System (CMS), and have applied knowledge of information architecture. You are able to lead conversations with stakeholders and partners and drive to agreement on solutions.

In this role you will:

  • Partner with Product and Technology teams, content administrators, and content developers to assess the current content experiences and determine immediate and long-term needs to support content management, publishing, and reuse.
  • Develop and maintain taxonomies, metadata models, conditionalization, and classification schemas across our content.
  • Create process documents, functional specifications, user stories, and other artifacts to describe the intended user experience.
  • Support maximum reusability in multiple contexts by designing for high-quality, multi-format outputs in multiple languages.
  • Support the development of personas/opportunity maps and engaging scenarios and frameworks that describe the proposed experiences.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize work using customer research and performance metrics from multiple sources.
  • Contribute to and advocate for content and communication standards across the organization.
  • This role supports a global team of content strategists, content developers, and localization experts. It will collaborate closely with technical partners that own content systems and products/experiences that leverage content.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS degree in Information Science, Library Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Experience translating business needs into scalable and sustainable information models
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS)
  • Experience with content management using HTML and XML/DITA
  • Experience supporting a multi-language content/publishing environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in Information Science, Library Science, or related field
  • Experience building taxonomies, terminology databases, and thesauri
  • Demonstrated experience with headless web content systems
  • Demonstrated experience identifying opportunities to optimize and automate content publishing processes
  • Experience with best practices in adaptive/responsive web design
  • Experience in technical writing
  • Experience with multi-channel content publishing
  • Experience interpreting and communicating analytics
  • Experience with migrating legacy content solutions to DITA
  • Experience with large, complex, international/multicultural products and businesses
  • Experience in a customer service environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
