Job Purpose

Reporting to the Assets & Archive Manager, the Asset Management Lead will oversee and manage the flow of digital assets through our DAM, archive file sets for future production, and prepare files for print and digital development.

The Asset Management Lead will be responsible for managing enterprise digital assets and metadata in our DAM, Bynder. The Asset Management Lead will manage and ensure proper storage of archive materials and tracking of those materials for use in future product development. The Asset Management Lead will manage and process files per company specifications and printer/distributor criteria.

Responsibilities:

  • Knowledgeable about print and digital production processes and file development
  • Lead a team of people who structure and maintain Great Mind’s image asset database, Bynder
  • Develop documentation and provide technical support to internal users as well as outside suppliers interacting with Bynder and other archival systems
  • Provide Bynder system administration, perform workflow testing, and new user training
  • Create and implement problem solving measures for archive issues within the systems for requests, archival of files, and preservation of metadata
  • Perform and support Assets & Archive team responsibilities such as NIMAS, reprint, and printer delivery
  • Ability to manage all Preflight and Delivery efforts to ensure overall quality of all content with a particular emphasis on consistency, formatting, and style
  • Understand, improve, and develop the technical capabilities of department systems as tools for archiving, asset management, and tracking
  • Manage team associates, including timesheet approval, time off request approval, performance reviews, and professional development.
  • Coach and support direct reports, resulting in attainment of all performance plan goals and feedback, and provide detailed, meaningful, and accurate feedback and fair performance evaluations
  • Provide system reporting and throughput metrics to the Assets & Archive Manager
  • Work integrally with a remote team to meet tight project deadlines
Requirements

Education Level and/or Relevant Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree and demonstrated success working with a digital asset management system in a production environment
  • 5+ years of related experience in publishing
  • Attention to detail, excellent time management, and experience with metadata is required
  • Skill in handling communication and customer service; including around difficult and time sensitive scenarios within and outside of the Assets & Archive team
  • Ability to multi-task and effectively perform the tasks for file deliveries, archival of files, and metadata preservation in a constantly changing environment
  • Ability to be flexible in an environment which has daily priority changes due to business need
  • Demonstrated success in technical troubleshooting with a logical approach to problem solving
  • Preferred librarian or archivist experience, proficient with Mac computers, experience with transferring data via Dropbox, FTP, Sharepoint, and other data sharing applications
  • Familiarity with National Instructional Materials Access Center (NIMAC) standards
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in book or journal publishing production
  • Experience working with US-based and offshore suppliers
  • Experience developing or managing production workflows
  • Experience using an enterprise content management system in a production environment and performing as an application liaison for that CMS with the development team
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office or project management platforms such as SmartSheet
  • Proficiency with art production tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or Paint
  • Understanding of print and online production requirements for image processing and delivery
  • Experience using DAM metrics to report on utilization or throughput
