Adobe Releases Acrobat XI


Adobe announced the release of Acrobat XI yesterday.  The main features of interest are all fairly predictable stuff like tablet support and cloud integration.  Of greater significance for the DAM/ECM industry (although still predictable) is the SharePoint integration features which allow PDFs to be more seamlessly shared:

The industry standard for PDF software will now feature complete PDF editing and export to Microsoft PowerPoint; touch-friendly capabilities on tablets; and newly integrated cloud services, including sophisticated Web contracting with Adobe EchoSign® and forms creation, data collection and analysis with Adobe FormsCentral. Acrobat XI additionally supports IT departments with seamless Microsoft Office and SharePoint integration, easy deployment, applications virtualization and robust application security” [Read More]

I also hope with this release that they have worked on the various browser plug-ins bundled with Acrobat Reader to stop PDF files crashing browsers.  I still feel a nervous twinge of fear and trepidation just before opening them up from web links.
